PANABO CITY – The Lyceum of the Philippines University Laguna (LPU Laguna) hosted this year’s Philippine Market Study Virtual Competition last November 20, 2021. Ms. Aivie Alfeche and Mr. Lounin Pono, faculty members of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), were part of the team that secured the fifth spot in the competition. They were accompanied by two other team members and advisors from the University of Mindanao Professional Schools.

The final round featured eight finalists nationwide. The competition required the team to study the general make-up of the Tokyo market, current statistics, trended data, market breakdowns, comparable international markets, and pipeline and development. Market studies are crucial in helping companies, organizations, and agencies make informed decisions on how to further strengthen their position and strategies, spot emerging trends, discover strengths and weaknesses, and more.

The event was a product of collaboration between STR SHARE (Supporting Hotel-related Academic Research & Education) Center, Tourism Industry Board Foundation, Inc. (TIBFI) and Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP).
