Panabo City – Dr. Jesebel Besas, REP Director, and Mr. Daniel Fritz Silvallana, Applied Communication Coordinator from Research, Extension and Production Division, attended the first regional technical working group partnership meeting in the implementation of School-On-Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA) spearheaded by the Regional Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Office today March 23, 2021, via zoom.

The activity aims to brief and orient its partners on a project implemented by the Department of Agriculture under Secretary William Dar’s leadership on nationwide unified implementation of School on the Air on Smart Rice Agriculture (SOA-SRA).

SOA-SRA aims to help catalyze agriculture modernization through massive and sustained education of smallholder farmers and local intermediaries on modern and innovative technologies and smart rice production approaches. It shall share cutting-edge technologies and innovative strategies to maximize rice productivity in medium and low yield provinces through radio, amplifying agricultural extension workers’ limited reach.

Dubbed as Palay Aralan: Makabagong Pagsasaka sa Himpapawid, the project targets to train 10,000 rice farmers in Region XI. DNSC became the recipient of the urban container gardening extension project funded by the Agricultural Training Institute last 2019. #
