Mr. Leo D. Rayon, Jr., a faculty member of Davao del Norte State College’s Institute of Teacher Education (DNSC-ITEd), was awarded a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) Program grant in the United States by the prestigious Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), also known as Fulbright Commission in the Philippines. He is the first faculty member of the College to receive the abovementioned grant.
The FLTA aims to strengthen foreign language instruction at colleges and universities in the United States (U.S.), while providing current or future teachers of English from participating countries the opportunity to refine their skills, increase proficiency of the English language, and deepen their knowledge on U.S. culture.
Grantees can also take graduate-level credited classes on selected topics and participate in the hosting university’s programs to share the Filipino culture and traditions. Mr. Rayon will stay at the Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington for the Academic Year 2021 – 2022.
