PANABO CITY – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD), through the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), coordinated with local and national government agencies for the conduct of the third quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). The drill was set in motion after an Online Ceremonial Pressing of the Button last September 16, 2021 at 9:00 in the morning.

Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) President Joy M. Sorrosa issued Office Memorandum No. 52, s. 2021, directing all college personnel to watch the opening ceremony of NSED through the official social media handles of NDRRMC and to perform the basic earthquake protocol – duck, cover, and hold. The College has always been supportive of the national government’s aim of creating a disaster-ready and more resilient Philippines.

The drill in the college was coordinated by the Disaster Resiliency Management (DRM) Committee. NSED is conducted quarterly to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination in times of disasters, especially during earthquakes. Department of National Defense Secretary, Voltaire Gazmin, stated that these efforts are targeted towards, “building safer, adaptive and resilient communities.”
