PANABO CITY – Mel Zaimen Vallescas, a third-year student under the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Sciences program, won the First Prize in the Commission on Higher Education Region XI’s ASEAN-Inspired Digital Painting Contest, part of its series of activities for the 2021 Association of Southeast Asian Nations Month Celebration. A second-year student of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English, Michael Aaron Puzon, also won the Second Prize of the said competition.
Darel Dan Ramos (fourth year, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student) and Jude Gumatay (third year, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student) bagged the Consolation Prizes. Completing the line-up of DNSC’s delegation are Jhun Bart Macirin (third year, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student) and CJ Khyle Requine (first year, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems student).
Winners were announced during the 2nd Regional Conference on Internationalization last August 19, 2021, via Facebook live streaming. In the said conference, College President Joy M. Sorrosa presented DNSC’s best practices on internationalization, assisted by Internationalization and External Affairs Office head, Daniel Fritz V. Silvallana.
The contest pieces showcased the country’s national symbols and the students’ interpretation of the importance of these symbols to the country’s ASEAN membership. The first prize winner received PhP 10,000.00 in cash and a certificate, while the second prize winner will get PhP 7,000.00 in cash and a certificate.
