Way to go. More to show. Visions are clear. Get ready, Davao Del Norte State University!
The lengthy journey to realize the academe’s determination is certainly underway as the DNSCian works harder to raise the standard of the institution that are supported with quality and excellence. The manifestation, which has been consistently carried forward by the strength of the people’s support and labor since then, is about to become a reality.
The modest beginnings of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) started as the Davao del Norte School of Fisheries (DANSOF). It was year 1995 in the month of February 14 where progressive leadership established. It has been 28 years of service upheld with its core values, mission, and vision, DNSC sustained a greenery pasture environment where students and faculty will be hone and equip.
The academe leaders’ determination, fortitude, and strength led to the extension of Davao del Norte State College to a larger avenue. DNSC is consistently sustaining strong waves of quality education, much like what it symbolizes as the shark that plunged to the depths of the ocean of tenacity. The previous presidents and staff who rendered with DNSC demonstrated efficient administration. It is widely acknowledged how vast the growth and development of what was formerly a school of fisheries was, spearheaded by former presidents Vicente Hermoso (1995–2001), Edgardo Santos (2001–2010), Jonathan Bayogan (2010–2019), and currently serving president, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa.
Over the years, DNSC has achieved humble impressive outcomes. All of DNSC’s successes were made possible because of the school’s fervor and tenacity, which helped it capture victory after victory. In reality, DNSC debuts a grid-tied 30 kW solar power system on the roof deck of its new four-story academic building. The building is a leap for the college’s commitment to sustainability in its construction endeavors and initiatives, aside from the 27 extra learning spaces for staff and students.
Local and international linkages between the school and the community are strengthened as the college keeps raising the banner of DNSCians all over the world. The college was also awarded the SDG Champion Award by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in 2022.
The following new programs will be offered: BS-Criminology, BS-Physical Education, BS-Agri Business, BS-Environmental Science, BS-Library Information Science, BS-Data Science, PhD-Applied Mathematics, and PhD-Applied Linguistics, according to Dr. Sorrosa. Additionally, DNSC was able to secure membership with five international networks. These are merely a preliminary step in DNSC’s pursuit of accreditation as a university. It is heartening to witness the institution’s advancement from a modest neighborhood to a widely recognized representation of DNSC as the Home of Academic Excellence. kudos for the college’s dedication to maintaining the institution’s expansion, where new programs will soon be provided. The modification will continue, but the fundamental principles will never change.

She also added that DNSC becoming DNSU would be a dream come true since, in the first place, DNSC provides quality education for all for free. With that, DNSC officially becoming a university would give the institution more opportunities for the stakeholders, the faculty, and most especially the students. More recognition and more chances for everybody, which is a good call for the institution.
After all, these notable achievements are attributed to the community’s help of DNSC, which is sufficiently engaged to give swift responses and remedies for the betterment of the institution. The Datu Jose A. Libayao (DJAL- DNSC Extension Campus in the Municipality of Talaingod and DNSC Annex in the Municipality of Carmen are the extension campuses of the college, which is an indications ranging on how bigger and better scaling from a small sprout to an abundant harvest of individuals.
The success of the institution is greatly influenced by the dedication and support of everyone at DNSC.In the field of labor, they have produced DNSCians who are skilled and fiercely competitive.Every day that the college continues to be a nurturing and giving excellence is the finest champagne of triumphs. In a place where greens are surrounded, there is DNSC standing as a greenery of knowledge in New Visayas, Panabo City. Soon, no more DNSC nor Fisheries lang ko, Kol—it would be, DNSU ko, Kol!
