PANABO CITY – A delegation of faculty members from the Institute of Computing (IC) and Quality Assurance Office (QA), together with College President Joy M. Sorrosa and Vice President for Academic Affairs Girley S. Gumanao, visited Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) and University of Southern Mindanao (USM) last March 23 – 24, 2022.

The official trip was conducted to gain insights for the curriculum improvement of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) as they prepare for the application for Center of Development and assessment by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP). Other areas for benchmarking also include; computer laboratories, international collaborations, and quality assurance.

SKSU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Christine F. Abo welcomed the delegation and discussed the university’s practices and preparations for the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA). SKSU is the only state university and college (SUC) in Mindanao to receive the PQA Level II certification. The team was able to tour the SKSU Isulan Campus, where they were received by Dr. Mary Lynn G. Magbanua, Campus Director, and Mr. Elbren O. Antonio, Dean of the College of Computer Studies. 

On the second day, the delegation paid a courtesy call to USM President Francisco N. Garcia. Discussions on the IT Education Program, Library Services, Quality Assurance, and IT Support Services were given by Dr. Geoffray Atok, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Engr. Melecio A. Cordero Jr. 

Completing DNSC’s benchmarking delegation were IC Dean Mark Van M. Buladaco, BSIT Program Chair Hazel A. Gameng, BSIS Program Chair Jonilyn Dabalos, MIT Coordinator Mariannie A. Rebortera, QA Director Ma. Melanie N. Edig, OHAPCISAD Head Armin Rubi, IC REP Head Laarni Ibanez, and Mr. Jovito Bolacoy Jr.
