PANABO CITY – The Freedom of Information Team under the Presidential Communications Operations Office initiated the #InfoDataQuest: Data Storytelling Competition, part of their efforts in advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 16.10 through Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Analytics in the Philippines. Czarina Nicole Lara M. Lanes, Davao del Norte State College’s FOI focal person and Public Information Officer, was awarded first runner-up for the individual category in the nationwide competition.
The announcement of winners was streamed live via the Facebook page of Freedom of Information PH last May 20, 2022. The winning entry featured a graphical presentation of Data on the Onboarding Activity of State Universities and Colleges in the e-FOI Portal. The College also had an entry for the team category which included student participants; Paulo Bastasa, Justine Arriesgado, Stacey Monta, and Gerald Macasaet, mentored by Mr. Jeymar Alfarero.
The judges for the competition were Marianne Fabian, Communications and Outreach Coordinator of Global Initiative for Fiscal Transparency, Kate Refendor, FOI Creatives Lead, Ranze Aaron Calderon, National Director for Membership and Governance of the 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines, Inc., David Jensen Rosario, Co-Chair for Membership and Marketing of the Analytics Association of the Philippines, and Gabriel Kristopher Soong, Consultant for Emerging Technologies CirroLytix Research Services, Inc.
