Dr. Sorrosa attended the closed-door 12th Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) Board Meeting on November 4, 2024, hosted by Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. The network is a strategic international alliance that supports members in achieving and maintaining world-class standards in education and research. It is currently chaired by DNSC’s international collaborator, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
President Sorrosa was accompanied by Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production, Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca, Jr., Director for Executive Affairs, Dr. Melissa G. Dalumay, and Head of Internationalization Initiatives and External Affairs Office, Mr. Mer Jun Q. Cañas. The delegation had productive networking sessions with other international higher education delegates. One of the anticipated activities is the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program, to be organized by DNSC, Telkom University of Indonesia, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
The Higher Education Leaders’ Forum 2024, held at Cheradel Suites in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, was also part of the event itinerary. The keynote address was delivered by His Excellency Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines. Dr. Dalumay was selected to speak on navigating institutional barriers and cultural adaptations during the panel discussion. The group concluded their mission with a tour of the Marawi Siege Ground Zero.
