A. Submit your abstracts
The abstract to be submitted must contain the following information:
- Must be written in English, single space, using Times New Roman font size 12, A4 Size (8.2″ x 11.7″) paper.
- The body text should not be more than 300 words.
- Must include the following:
Title
Author(s) name
Authors Affiliations
Authors Address
Email address of the corresponding author
Keywords
Conference theme to which the paper abstract relates (select one)
- Title should have a maximum of 25 words, in bold, with the letter of the first word in uppercase and scientific names italicized.
- Indicate the presenting author by underlining the presenting author’s name
- Indicate affiliations with a superscript number before the author’s name and in front of the appropriate address
- In case of multiple authorship, the presenter’s name should be underlined
- Keywords should represent the content of your manuscript and are specific to the field or sub-field. Use 3-5 keywords or phrases (of 2-3 words) separated by a comma.
- Use only one page and margins should be set at 1 inch throughout (top/bottom/left/right). Follow formatted abstract template provided.
- Please indicate if you wish to present your work as a full paper presentation or as a poster. The Conference Organizers will make the final decision.
- Abstract should be saved and submitted in MS Word file format. And filename should be in this format: Thematic area keyword_surname of corresponding author_first three words of abstract title.

Abstract Template:
- Online submission of abstracts is open until 15 September 2025, and issuance of Notice of Acceptance is on or before 18 September 2025 through the official email of the Davao Sustainable Futures Conference (dsfc@dnsc.edu.ph).
- Abstracts shall be reviewed by at least 2 reviewers using the following criteria:

- An abstract with a score of at least 10 points shall be considered for Poster presentation.
- An abstract with more than 15 points shall be considered for oral presentation.
- Accepted Abstracts (Oral and Poster) will be sent Notice of Acceptance on 18 September 2025 together with the registration fee details. Deadline of the registration fee will be on 30 September 2025. Payment will be through bank transfer. Bank transfer details will be provided in the Acceptance Email.
B. Oral Presentation
- Accepted abstracts for oral presentation may submit a full paper manuscript in consideration of the Best Paper Award (see the Best Paper section below).
- Deadline of submission of manuscript shall be on 30 September 2025 and submitted through the official email of the Davao Sustainable Futures Conference (dsfc@dnsc.edu.ph). with the following file name: ORAL_ Thematic area keyword_surname of corresponding author_first three words of abstract title.
- Failure to follow the guidelines below may lead to disqualification of the entry.
Presentation Guidelines
- Presentation must be made by the principal author or one of the authors.
- Only one presenter per paper.
- Only the presenter shall be awarded a certificate of presentation.
- All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt).
- The Organizer shall provide a LED Screen or LCD Projector
- Text slides should be easily read from a distance of about 15-20 meters.
- The maximum duration for presentation is 15 minutes. An additional 5 minutes will be allotted for questions from the session chair and audience.
Best Paper
One (1) best paper shall be selected from each thematic area from an average score from three (3) reviewers based on the submitted full paper using the criteria below. The Best Paper should have a score of at least 85%. If there is no paper that attains a score of 85% then there shall be no declaration of Best Paper.
a. Content, Originality and Quality of Work- 50%
* Completeness, accuracy and consistency
* Generates new question/cyclical in nature
* Quality of argument, thoroughness, soundness of methods; results quality, whether
conclusions are supported by results and methods, etc.
b. Significance of Findings -30%
* Relevance to the current or emerging regional and global problems
* Contributes to knowledge generation with an emphasis on the paper’s
innovativeness, empirical results, policy development, and addresses sustainable
development goals
c. Manuscript /Write-up – 20%
* Quality of writing style in terms of words /phrases used
* Readability, understandability, and organization of the paper
* Clarity, coherence precision, and conciseness of writing
* Correctness in the attribution of sources through citations and referencing
Manuscript Guidelines
- The manuscript should not be more than 15 pages including tables and figures, printed on A4 8.3″ x 11.7″ bond paper, single-spaced, in 11 font size, in Arial font.
- In a publishable format, papers should include
- Abstract (see abstract guideline above)
- Introduction (rationale, state of the art, analysis of the problem)
- Materials and Methods
- Results and Discussions (may be separated depending on the field of study)
- Implications and Recommendations
- Literature Cited (APA 7th ed format)
- The manuscript should be as short as possible.
- In a publishable format, papers should include
- The title of the article should be written in compact, clear, and informative sentences, with a maximum of 25 words, in bold, with the letter of the first word in uppercase and scientific names italicized.
- Indicate the presenting author by underlining the presenting author’s name.
- Indicate affiliations with a superscript number before the author’s name and in front of the
appropriate address. - In case of multiple authorship, the presenter’s name should be underlined
- Abstract, a concise abstract is required (about 300 words). The abstract should be informative and state briefly the aim of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separately from the article; thus it must be able to stand alone (completely self-explanatory). References should not be cited.
- Keywords should represent the content of your manuscript and are specific to the field or sub-field. Use 3-5 keywords or phrases (of 2-3 words) separated by a comma.
- Abbreviations (if any): All important abbreviations must be defined at their first mention there. Ensure consistency of abbreviations throughout the article.
- The introduction is about 600 words, covering the aims of the research and providing an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.
- Materials and Methods should emphasize the procedures and data analysis.
- Results and Discussion should be written as a series of connecting sentences, however, for a manuscript with long discussion should be divided into subtitles. Thorough discussion represents the causal effect mainly explains why and how the results of the research were taken place, and do not only re-express the mentioned results in the form of sentences.
- Concluding sentence should be given at the end of the discussion
- Acknowledgments are expressed in a brief; all sources of institutional, private and corporate financial support for the work must be fully acknowledged, and any potential conflicts of interest are noted.
- Figures and Tables of a maximum of three pages should be clearly presented. The title of a picture is written down below the picture, while the title of a table is written above the table. Colored figures are accepted. All image properties of others should be mentioned in the source. There is no appendix, all data or data analysis is incorporated into Results and Discussions. For broad data, it can be displayed on the website as a supplement. Tables should be numbered consecutively and accompanied by a title at the top. Illustrations Do not use figures that duplicate matter in tables. Figures can be supplied in digital format, or photographs and drawings, which can be ready for reproduction. Label each figure with figure number consecutively.

- Scientific names of species (incl. subspecies, variety, etc.) should be written in italics, except for italic sentences. Scientific names (genera species, author), and cultivars or strains should be mentioned completely for the first time mentioning it in the body text, especially for taxonomic manuscripts. Name of genera can be shortened after first mention, except for generating confusion. Name of the author can be eliminated after first mention. For example, Rhizopus oryzae L. UICC 524, hereinafter can be written as R. oryzae UICC 524. Using trivial names should be avoided, otherwise generating confusion.
- Biochemical and chemical nomenclature should follow the order of the IUPAC- IUB. For DNA sequences, it is better to use Courier New font. Symbols of standard chemicals and abbreviations of chemistry names can be applied for common and clear use, for example, completely written butyric hydroxytoluene (BHT) to be BHT hereinafter.
- Metric measurement use IS denomination, and usage another system should follow the value of equivalent with the denomination of IS first mentioned. Abbreviations set off, like g, mg, mL, etc. do not follow by dot. Minus index (m-2, L-1, h-1) suggested being used, except in things like “per-plant” or “per-plot”.
- The equation of mathematics does not always can be written down in one column with text, in that case, can be written separately.
- Number one to ten is expressed with words, except if it relates to measurement, while values above them are written in number, except in early sentences. The fraction should be expressed in decimal. In the text, it should be used “%” rather than “percent”. Avoid expressing ideas with complicated sentences and verbiage, and used an efficient and effective sentence.
C. Poster Presentation
- Accepted abstracts for poster presentation shall submit a soft copy of their posters in PDF (.pdf) format.
- Deadline of submission of the softcopy of the poster shall be on 20 September 2025 and submitted through the official email of the Davao Sustainable Futures Conference (dsfc@dnsc.edu.ph). with the following file name: POSTER_ Thematic area keyword_surname of corresponding author_first three words of abstract title.
- Failure to follow the guidelines below may lead to disqualification of the entry
- Poster should be illustrated in a 40 x 30 inches / 101.6 x 76.2 cm (height x width,
- portrait format) dimensions with labels/texts not exceeding 600 words
- Poster sections and contents (readable from about 2 meters distance):
- Title- most prominent block of text with the largest size (at least 75 pt; concise, to the point, and quickly orient the audience about the paper)
- Authors and affiliation – usually placed below the title; font size maybe similar to text, includes email address of corresponding author, (see abstract guidelines)
- Main Sections:
- Introduction (or Background/Rationale) – briefly presents the importance/ motivation, hypothesis, and objectives of the research
- Materials and Methods – briefly presents the procedures, preferably more of diagrams/charts and less in words
- Results – presents the key findings/points to substantiate the objectives; analysis or interpretations of facts presented; could be with subheadings to guide transition
- Conclusion – summary and significance of findings; may include area/s for further study
- References (or Literature Cited) – keep to a minimum; smaller in font size than that of text
- Poster presentations shall be printed on a tarpaulin by the author/presenter and given to the secretariat during the conference registration.
- Best Poster. One (1) best poster shall be selected from each thematic area from an average score from the evaluators during the presentation using the criteria below. The Best poster should have a score of at least 85%. If there is no poster that attains a score of 85% then there shall be no declaration of Best Poster
