The activity aimed to strengthen research and governance in the small-scale fisheries sector through science-based, data-driven approaches. Dr. Asuncion B. De Guzman of MSU-Naawan served as lead trainer, joined by DNSCโs own fisheries and marine science experts.
Hereโs what some of our leaders had to say about the importance of this initiative:
“This training reminds me of the importance of building local talents that can create multiplier effects… especially in making our communities food resilient in the future,” said Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca Jr., Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production.
“This is crucial for fisheries managers, for us to be able to make informed decisions that can prevent overfishing and sustain the health of our marine ecosystems,” added Dr. Girley S. Gumanao, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
At the heart of every policy, every study, and every effort is a community whose life and livelihood depend on the sustainability of our natural resources.
