[THE LATEST] Halal Entrepreneurship for Industry Growth in Davao del Norte
Davao del Norte State College and the Department of Science and Technology’s Provincial Science and Technology Office of Davao del Norte, hosted a Halal Entrepreneurship Event as part of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) 2025 celebration.

The event brought together participants from various industries, such as health and wellness, travel and leisure, food manufacturing, cacao and coconut farming, and food and beverages, alongside faculty and students from DNSCโs Food Technology, Tourism Management, Technology and Livelihood Education, and Entrepreneurship programs.
Event highlights included a morning session on the Basics and Principles of the Halal Industry and Halal Markets in the Philippines and Abroad, led by Dr. Ismael Abaya, entrepreneur, halal product and service consolidator, and Halal advocate. The session was further enriched by insights from Ms. Christine Esther Flor L. Catoera (DOST XI) and Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca, Jr. (DNSC Halal Industry Research and Training Center).
Afternoon industry visits provided participants with hands-on learning on how businesses can integrate Muslim-friendly practices and explore halal certification opportunities.
