PANABO CITY — Dr. Marilou D. Junsay, a professor from the Institute of Advanced Studies of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), was honored with the Change Catalyst Award during Gabi ng Parangal 2026: Women of the Year, held at the Panabo City Gymnasium, part of the celebration of the 25th Araw ng Panabo.

The awarding ceremony recognized women who demonstrate exemplary leadership and significant contributions to improving the quality of life for women and communities in Panabo City.

With the theme “Panaghiusa nga Nagmalampuson, Binhi sa Kaugmaon!”, the event emphasized the role of women leaders across various sectors whose initiatives have helped drive community development and empowerment.

Dr. Junsay received the Change Catalyst Award in recognition of her leadership and commitment to advancing programs and initiatives that create social impact. As an educator and advocate, she has been instrumental in promoting transformative learning and community engagement through her work in higher education.

Aside from Dr. Junsay, several women leaders were also recognized for their contributions in different fields. Maria Reina L. Porlares received the Health and Wellness Advocate Award, while Marlyn C. Rosell was honored with the Kabiyaan Award. The Volunteer Service Award was given to Liezel M. Solicar, and Arlene B. Ancheta was recognized with the Exemplary Solo Parent Award. Rosievie D. Agripo received the Entrepreneur Award, while Segundina L. Perocho was honored with the Exceptional PWD Woman Award.
