PANABO CITY – Selected students from Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) participated in Workshop 3: Agile Prototyping and Execution of the ASEAN AI Hackathon 2026, joining more than 200 teams from over 100 higher education institutions across nine ASEAN nations under the theme, “AI for a Resilient ASEAN: Innovation, Sustainability, and Humanity”.

Organized by Passage to ASEAN Network, the activity was conducted through a hybrid setup. DNSC participants came from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Bachelor of Science in Disaster Resilience and Management, and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship programs, with mentorship support from the BUGSAI Technology Business Incubator.

The workshop featured discussions from Dr. Chia Chaw Poh, Senior Scientist from the School of Informatics & IT at Temasek Polytechnic.

Adeline P. Almanoche, a fourth-year BSIS student, described the activity as a valuable learning opportunity that enhanced her understanding of technology and innovation, “Being at the ASEAN Hackathon 2026 was a very valuable and eye-opening experience for me because I was able to get new knowledge and skills, especially in project management, where I discovered digital tools that help teams to effectively organize tasks and work together in real time.”

She added that the workshop introduced participants to online platforms that support lifelong learning in coding and technology while emphasizing the importance of identifying customer personas in developing relevant AI-driven solutions.

In the afternoon, participating students presented their proposed ideas during the e-consultation sessions, with five DNSC representatives taking part in the presentations.
