PANABO CITY — A total of 797 students of Davao del Norte State College completed the National Service Training Program, as made official during the NSTP Graduation Ceremony held on June 10 at the DNSC Gymnasium.

Of the total graduates, 605 completed the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) while 192 completed the Literacy Training Service (LTS). The ceremony carried the theme, “SAILing with Integrity and Service: NSTP Graduates Transforming Communities toward Sustainable Development”.

In her message, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Girley S. Gumanao, mentioned a new environmental initiative embedded in the College’s academic policies, “In the newly approved Academic and Student Manual, a specific provision on the green legacy of graduating students is highlighted. It requires students to plant trees as a requirement of graduation. This will be embedded in the NSTP courses.”

Representing College President Joy M. Sorrosa, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca, Jr., challenged the graduates to become active contributors to nation-building amid contemporary challenges.

“Our nation today faces significant challenges: economic, political, and social. In these times of uncertainty, the country needs young leaders who will not turn away, who will not be indifferent, but who will stand firm with courage and conviction. And so, I urge you to let your training be more than a requirement fulfilled. Be role models of integrity and resilience,” Dr. Huesca said.

The ceremony also featured Dr. Ana Raissa T. Lagarto as guest speaker, who discussed the importance of learning protocols, integrity, and selflessness in shaping responsible citizens and future professionals.
