PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College was recognized for its support to disaster risk reduction and management initiatives as it received a Plaque of Recognition during the Awarding and Culmination Ceremony of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2026 on July 30 at the Pavilion of the Davao del Norte State College of Technology (DNSTC) in Mankilam, Tagum City.
The recognition was conferred by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Davao del Norte in appreciation of the College’s “valuable contributions and unwavering support to the Council’s disaster preparedness, resilience, and risk reduction initiatives.”
The plaque was signed by Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib, who also serves as Chairperson of the PDRRMC, and was received on behalf of the College by DNSC President Joy M. Sorrosa.
This year’s observance of National Disaster Resilience Month carried the theme, “Naghahanda at Kumikilos tungo sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas”, highlighting the importance of preparedness, collective action, and resilient communities in addressing disaster risks and the impacts of climate change.
National Disaster Resilience Month is observed every July to strengthen public awareness and encourage the participation of government agencies, educational institutions, local government units, and other stakeholders in building safer and more disaster-resilient communities.
