PANABO CITY — Davao del Norte State College ceremonially opened its Philippine Civil Service Anniversary Celebration 2026, dubbed the Lingkod Bayani Kasadyaan Festival, on September 2 at the DNSC Sports Complex.
The opening day featured the Parade of Teams and their Saludo, Festival Torch Lighting, and Banner Raising, followed by the Employee Wellness Zumba for All. Employees then competed in men’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, and Lawn Tennis Singles A and B.
In her opening message, Human Resource Management Division Director Raquel J. Edjec reminded employees that the competitive spirit of the games should remain grounded in the values of the DNSC community.
“While a healthy competitive spirit makes the games exciting, DNSC culture should always come first. Respect everyone. Play fair. Support each other. Keep it safe and finish with a smile,” she stated.
The celebration also called attention to the realities of public service. In a message of inspiration delivered by Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Eliseo F. Huesca Jr. on behalf of College President Joy M. Sorrosa, employees were encouraged to remain committed to their purpose despite workplace challenges.
Dr. Huesca expressed, “There are days when operational challenges and perceived inequities cause frustration, friction, or leave us feeling sidelined. While those are not easy moments, we hold a higher duty to DNSC, our country, and ourselves to choose purpose and joy in our service.”
The Parade of Teams and Saludo added energy to the opening as employee groups presented their creativity and team spirit. Tribu Mayari secured first place, followed by Tribu Lalaon in second, Tribu Hanan in third, and Tribu Tala in fourth.
With sports, wellness activities, and team-based events, the opening day placed employee connection at the heart of the celebration, giving public servants an opportunity to strengthen relationships with colleagues while recognizing the shared responsibility of serving the institution and its stakeholders.
The Lingkod Bayani Kasadyaan Festival 2026 continues with various activities that celebrate not only the commitment of DNSC employees to public service, but also the people who carry that responsibility every day.
