Panabo City – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) opened its Kasadyaan Festival on September 3, 2025 at the DNSC Sports Complex, signaling the start of the institution’s celebration of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing para sa Bayan”.
In her opening message, Raquel J. Edjec, Head of the Human Resource Management Office, highlighted the spirit of service with compassion, “Mula sa puso nagmumula ang malasakit. Sa bawat ngiti at pag-asa ng natutulungan, naroon ang pusong handang mag-alay ng oras at lakas para sa kapwa, para sa bayan.”
SUC President III, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, declared the festival open, reminding employees of the deeper meaning of public service. “Public service is a demanding vocation. It can be tiresome and stressful, but it is also immensely rewarding. The philosopher Khalil Gibran once wrote, ‘Work is love made visible.’ Our work is a demonstration of our love for our community and our nation,” she remarked.
The opening ceremony featured the raising of team banners and the symbolic lighting of the torch, signifying unity and camaraderie. Employees were grouped into four teams; Red Kites, Yellow Falcons, Blue Hawks, and Black Eagles, to compete in a series of friendly activities prepared throughout September.
The first highlight of the festival was a Zumba competition for employees aged 35 and above. The Black Eagles emerged as champions, followed by the Blue Hawks as first runner-up, the Yellow Falcons as second runner-up, and the Red Kites as third runner-up.
The Kasadyaan Festival will continue with a month-long lineup of activities designed to foster teamwork, wellness, and appreciation for the invaluable service of government workers.
