PANABO CITY – The Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) granted the Level I re-accreditation to Davao del Norte State College’s Research Ethics Committee (REC), a step forward in strengthening the institution’s research integrity.
The re-accreditation, communicated by Dr. Sonia E. Bongala, Chair of the PHREB-CSA, is valid for one year, from January 13, 2026, to January 12, 2027. It recognized the committee’s adherence to national ethical standards for health and health-related research.
The PHREB accreditation system is a multi-tiered process designed to ensure that institutional ethics review committees across the Philippines operate with competence, consistency, and independence. Reacquiring the Level I status is a prerequisite for higher-level accreditations, which involve more stringent evaluations of committee operations and review outcomes.
