PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) welcomed representatives from the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHEDRO XI), the CHED Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG), and technical evaluators on July 22, 2026, for the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Commission on Higher Education’s Institutional Grants (IG) and Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG).
The activity assessed the implementation, accomplishments, and sustainability of CHED-funded institutional projects that have been strengthening DNSC’s academic programs, research, internationalization initiatives, and overall institutional development.
The projects presented for monitoring were “Delivering Quality and Excellence Service in the Teacher Education Programs of DNSC Gearing” and “Quality and Excellence in Marine Biology and Fisheries through Local and International Collaboration”.
The monitoring team was composed of Leomar Jay Oblibana, Education Supervisor Representative of CHEDRO XI; Engr. Rodrigo S. Pangantihon Jr., Education Supervisor II Representative of CHEDRO XI; Noemi A. Isidro, Senior Education Program Specialist (SEPS) of the Coordination and Grants Division (CGD), OIQAG; Ma. Vina Cecilia L. Mercado, Project Technical Staff I (PTS I), CGD, OIQAG; Hosea de Leon Matel, PhD, Technical Evaluator; and Libertad P. Garcia, PhD, Technical Evaluator.
In her welcome remarks, DNSC President, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, expressed her gratitude to CHED for its continued support and emphasized the impact of the institutional grants on the College’s development.
She highlighted that the funding has enabled DNSC to improve several key areas, including the performance of its graduates in licensure examinations. Among the notable gains were the College’s improved standing in the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Technologists and the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
Dr. Sorrosa also shared how the grants have bolstered DNSC’s internationalization initiatives by sustaining collaborations with partner institutions abroad, including the University of Science and Technology in Hanoi and Nha Trang University in Vietnam. These partnerships continue to provide opportunities for academic exchange, research collaboration, and capacity-building for both faculty and students.
The monitoring and evaluation activity provided an opportunity for project implementers to present accomplishments, discuss best practices, and receive recommendations from evaluators to further enhance project implementation and ensure the sustainability of outcomes.
