PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) welcomed representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) – Migrant Workers Protection Division (MWPtD) Regional Office XI for an exploratory meeting on June 19, 2025, held at the Office of the College President. The dialogue centered on potential areas of collaboration to enhance support for current and aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), especially among the College’s students and alumni.
Representing the DMW were Chief Labor and Employment Officer Catherine Marie E. Villaflores and Labor and Employment Officer Derrick Dale L. Intod. The College’s delegation was composed of DNSC President Joy M. Sorrosa, Job Placement Officer Maricielo Paula Funa, and Internationalization Initiatives and External Affairs Office Head Mer Jun Cañas.
The proposed partnership includes the promotion of key programs such as the Pre-Migration Orientation Seminar (PMOS), repatriation assistance for alumni, welfare and legal assistance, and intensified awareness campaigns on illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and online scams. Both parties also explored the integration of these initiatives into the College’s institutional and community outreach efforts.
One of the highlighted benefits of the potential collaboration is the inclusion of DNSC in future job fair campaigns, providing expanded opportunities and safer employment pathways for students and graduates considering overseas work.
