PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College, through its Disaster Resilience and Administration Committee (DRAC), is committed to fulfilling the mandated tasks and operational protocols outlined in Republic Act No. 10121, also known as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2016.
The College is preparing for Gawad Kalasag 2024, an advocacy program established in accordance with the RA to recognize disaster resiliency and management projects and initiatives of public and private organizations, donor agencies, and various communities.
On July 9, 2024, a team of evaluators visited the College to assess its readiness on its Gawad Kalasag application. A team of evaluators from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) inspected facilities, verified documents, conducted interviews, and witnessed a simulation exercise of a college-wide earthquake drill.
The evaluators included Eirene Canlom from the Office of Civil Defense XI, Suzeth Piatos from the Department of Public Works and Highways XI, Joel Jumalon and Kristine Sagot of the Department of Education XI, and Bianca Nunez of the Department of Science and Technology XI. The result and findings of the assessment will be forwarded to the College in a few weeks.
