PANABO CITY – In line with Republic Act No. 11293, the Philippines, with lead coordination coming from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), celebrates National Innovation Day (NID) on the 21st of April every year. For 2024, the gathering for NID was done on April 22, 2023, at the Novotel Manila Araneta City.

College President Joy M. Sorrosa, alongside Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production Eliseo F. Huesca Jr. and three DNSC students, attended the celebration which highlighted the setting of a new mindset – Filipinnovation. The mindset covers five crucial values of innovation; malasakit (empathy), mapanuri (critical thinking), malikhain (creativity), maharaya (imaginative), and diwa ng bayanihan (collaborative spirit).

The students were able to participate in a Huddle, Analyze, Build, and Innovate (HABI) Design Thinking workshop where they were tasked to develop innovative solutions for the challenges faced by predetermined priority areas.

DNSC supports the vision of the National Innovation Council to put the Philippines on the 43rd rank or above in the Global Innovation Index by 2028. In 2023, PH sits at the 56th place among 132 economies.
