PANABO CITY – A team from Davao del Norte State College visited Sitio Lomondong, Barangay Dagohoy, Municipality of Talaingod last April 17 – 18, 2023, to conduct a Nutrition and Health Training, as well as a Feeding Program, for (but not limited to) the malnourished children in the area.
The extension activity was part of the Department of Science and Technology’s Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (DOST-CEST) program that targets to aid the needs of Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and Marginalized Communities. The training included topics on basic nutrition, the importance of cleanliness, food safety, and vegetable gardening. The DNSC team comprised Director for Extension Division Mariannie Rebortera, faculty members Ria Jayne Tabinas, Sevetrim Torrejos, Jonelyn Arcayna, Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Good Governance Dean Florie Ann Fermil, College Nurse Gemma Cervantes, Research, Extension, and Production staff Raymond Saguran, and motor pool staff Geneses Ojagan.
They were accompanied by DOST’s Provincial Science and Technology Director, Engr. Judy Donna dA. Nueva Ecija. The receiving team was headed by Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Arthur Pinabudlang, Barangay Captain Bogsi Anlas, and Tribal Leader Dondon Mandal, supported by barangay officials, Lomondong Elementary School teachers with School Head Hazel Ann Manigos, and the 56th IB, 7th ID, headed by Col. Osmalik D. Tagaban, PA/GSC, Community Officer.
