
PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) welcomed students and faculty from the Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) for a benchmarking visit and academic exchange focused on food technology innovations and best practices.
Held on May 8, 2025, CFCST’s delegation was led by Bai Puti O. Manslao, MSFS, RChT, PFT, head of the Food Science Department at CFCST. The visit aimed to enrich the academic experience of Food Technology students by exposing them to DNSC’s facilities, program strategies, and research initiatives.
In her welcome remarks, Liezel T. Esprela, BSFT Program Chair at DNSC, underscored the institution’s commitment to integrating science, technology, and local resources to promote food security and enterprise development, “We’re excited to share with you what our Bachelor of Science in Food Technology program has to offer, from hands-on laboratory training to research opportunities and community engagement initiatives.”
Ria Jayne A. Tabinas, faculty member of the BSFT program, gave an overview of the curriculum, highlighting its focus on innovation, research, and outreach. The CFCST delegation also toured key facilities, including the laboratories of the Institute of Aquatic and Applied Sciences (IAAS) and the DNSC Food Processing Plant.
The benchmarking visit served as a platform for mutual learning and academic exchange. Both institutions expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations that will contribute to the continued advancement of food technology education and research.
