Mindanao wide Information Technology Olympiad 2023

PANABO CITY – The Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) XI and the Council of Deans on IT Education (CDITE) XI organized the Mindanao-wide Information Technology Olympiad on May 4, 2023, at the Ateneo de Davao University and Holy Child College of Davao.

Twenty higher education institutions clashed against each other in a display of IT-related skills. In the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Programming Competition, Velly King Marcellones, Kent Narciso, and Angelo Geant Gaviola ranked fourth, while Dexter Decierdo, Ian Divinagracia, and Kimberly Marie Arias ranked fifth. They were trained by Jonilyn Dabalos and Frank Lou Ubay. In the infographics contest, Jude Gumatay was declared fourth placer, while Justine Paula Arriesgado was the ninth placer. They were mentored by Laarni Ibañez. For IT Quiz Bowl, Coach Hazel Gameng was able to secure the eleventh rank with Gerald Macasaet and Ashley Vineda as her contestants, and the twentieth rank with Je-an Sarigumba and Pearly Queen Nable.

Princess Kate Ulla landed the twelfth place and Adeline Almanoche landed the fourteenth place in the Digital Drawing competition. Their coach was Glendell Jadraque. In the Game Application Pitching contest, Darel Dan Ramos, Stacey Nicole Monta, and Efraim Maniwang finished fourth place, while Steven Clark Fedillaga, Krisseah Keah Hilay, and Fitzgerald Artiaga ranked fifth. Team one was trained by Mark Van Buladaco and team two was under the supervision of Nelma Mae Loja.

For motion graphics, Rafael Lowix Homwad was awarded fourth place, while Jeremiah Jayuma secured the sixth place. They were coached by Jeymar Alfarero. Ian Cezar Ortega, Nesa May Salahid, and Rogie Gorez were able to get into the top five for IT pitching competition, together with their coach, Jovito Bolacoy, Jr. Jessa Mae Coronas, Kyle Dominic Pacatang, and Cymon John Buladaco won third place in the same competition and were trained by Jovanne Alejandrino.
