PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) served as the venue for the June Regular Meeting of the Information Officers Network of Davao del Norte, held at the Gender and Development Conference Room on June 20, 2025.
The gathering brought together Municipal, City, and Provincial Information Officers, as well as communication specialists from public agencies, national government agencies (NGAs), and higher education institutions (HEIs). A Learning and Development session headlined the event, featuring Mr. Reynaldo L. Banal, CPA from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who presented on financial literacy and responsible investment, and Atty. Andrea Lauren E. Cabreros, who discussed how to detect and prevent investment scams.
These sessions directly supported the mission of information officers by equipping them with relevant, actionable knowledge to educate and protect their communities. From promoting financial responsibility to issuing timely fraud warnings, the talks strengthened the capacity of information officers to serve as trusted sources of public information.
Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director Rene V. Carbayas emphasized the importance of the information officers in strengthening governance and citizen trust. DNSC President Joy M. Sorrosa dropped by to welcome the ION members.
In the afternoon, participants reviewed the President’s Report, Financial Report, and shared agency updates, fostering collaboration and strategic coordination among communication professionals across the province.
