PANABO CITY – As part of the Philippine Civil Service Month 2024 celebration, Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) hosted a tree planting activity titled “Ali Na, Alima!” at the DNSC Katutubo Campus in Talaingod on September 23, 2024.

The event was facilitated by Dir. Charlo Bianci M. Guray, the focal person for the DNSC Katutubo Campus. Selected employees, led by College President Joy M. Sorrosa, participated in the activity, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship.

The 56th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Davao del Norte, and officials from the Municipality of Talaingod also attended, showing their support for the initiative.

In his brief message, Ian Paul L. Petines, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, shared, “Magtanom ta, nagdala mi’g 60 ka pine trees ug 60 ka yellow trees. Naa mi target na ginakuha na title not just as the lumad capital, but soon to be the pine tree capital of the province.” (Let’s plant! We brought 60 pine trees and 60 yellow trees. We are aiming not just to be the indigenous peoples’ capital, but also to be the pine tree capital of the province.)

The DNSC administration strongly supported the initiative, emphasizing stewardship as a core value, which includes caring for and offering selfless service to communities and the environment.
