PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), along with member schools of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Region XI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to promote an informed and empowered citizenry through the Freedom of Information (FOI) initiative. The ceremonial signing took place on November 28, 2024, during the FOI Caravan for Davao Region SUCs, held at the University of Southeastern Philippines.

“With this partnership, we are taking a significant step toward empowering every member of our academic community, especially our students, to exercise their fundamental right to information. Beyond access, it is essential to ensure that the information obtained is used meaningfully and responsibly,” emphasized Ms. Krizia Casey P. Avejar from the PCO’s FOI Program Management Office (PMO).

The event included messages of support from SUC presidents, a reintroduction to the FOI program and its manifesto of support, and practical sessions. Ms. April F. Aurea, Creative Arts Specialist III, provided a walkthrough of the e-FOI portal, while Ms. Jaya V. Illustrisimo, Training Specialist II, presented the FOI Library Project.

DNSC was represented by its FOI focal team and selected student leaders, reinforcing its commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and informed participation within the academic community.
