PANABO CITY —Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) carried out the stocking of 10,000 milkfish (bangus) fingerlings at the National Mariculture Park in Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City.
This activity forms part of DNSC’s aquaculture development efforts and is supported by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region XI (BFAR XI) through its Provincial Fisheries Office (BFAR-PFO), which provided funding for the project.
Ms. Lanie Albert, the designated Project Leader, and Ms. Junilyn R. Palope, Project Member, represented DNSC during the stocking operation. They were joined by Mr. Mervin Cabrera, technical representative from BFAR-PFO, who offered guidance throughout the process.
The City Agriculture Office (CAGRO) – Fisheries Section, led by Section Head Mr. Alex Tapanan, also provided assistance, alongside members of Bantay Dagat, to ensure proper handling and release of the fingerlings into the mariculture area.
This collaborative effort reflects DNSC’s commitment to advancing sustainable aquaculture while generating institutional income. It also highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in promoting fisheries-based livelihoods and food security in Davao region.
