PANABO CITY – With its commitment on contributing to the nationwide call for resiliency against disasters and emergencies, Davao del Norte State College provided a Basic Life Support Training to the barangay officials and functionaries of Barangay Mabaus, Municipality of Carmen, Province of Davao del Norte. The event was conducted by DNSC’s project RESILE (Rehabilitation, Education, and Scientific Interventions to Live with Floods) team last June 7 – 9, 2022.

According to the organizers, basic life support training is important to improve the survival capabilities of communities in life-threatening conditions. The focus of the training is to help citizens or patients sustain life until more precise medical treatment becomes available. Some of the techniques included in the training were; cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemorrhage control, stabilization of fractures, spinal immobilization, and basic first aid.

The resource speakers were personnel of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Davao del Norte. Project RESILE 2 was led by project leader Boyeth C. Pelone. Students under the Bachelor of Science in Disaster Resiliency and Management program and several faculty members also participated in the training. A certificate of course completion was given to the participants, signed by Davao del Norte Governor, Edwin I. Jubahib.
