PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) held its Midyear Planning from July 31 to August 2, 2024, at Cicada Hills, Bukidnon. Organized by the Planning and Resource Management Office (PRMO), the three-day event focused on reviewing the institution’s milestones and addressing future challenges.

The session commenced with College President Joy M. Sorrosa presenting the significant achievements and hurdles faced by DNSC. Among the notable accomplishments were the awarding of a Data Protection Certification by the National Privacy Commission, Level 1 Accreditation for the Research Ethics Committee from the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board, and a five-star rating for energy efficiency from the Department of Energy. Legislative progress was also highlighted, including House Bill 8215, which aims to convert DNSC into a State University, and House Bill 9615, which seeks to establish the DNSC-Katutubo Campus.

Following President Sorrosa’s presentation, PRMO Director Charlo Bianci M. Guray updated attendees on the proposed Organizational Structure and the institution’s Vision, Mission, and Goals. This was followed by Director for Administrative Services Leo D. Rayon Jr., who introduced new guidelines and monitoring processes for designated officials, and Board Secretary Jeremy B. Barnido, who shared the new procedure for the approval of Memoranda of Agreement and Understanding.

The planning session also included an assessment of the College’s performance against various benchmarks, such as the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Levelling and the Strategic Plan 2019-2024. This assessment was led by Planning Officers Joshua P. Elardo and Arcelyn B. Llevado, who provided insights into the institution’s progress and areas for improvement.

All deans and directors presented their accomplishments from January to June, comparing them against their pledged targets for the year and mapping out their catch-up plans. They also shared their long-term development goals and ways forward for their respective units.

The Midyear Planning session concluded with presentations from the vice presidents, who provided an overview of the progress across the major areas of the college, including instruction, research, extension, production, administration, and finance. The event underscored DNSC’s commitment to continuous growth and excellence, setting a clear path for the institution’s future endeavors.
