PANABO CITY – A new chapter in the advancement of criminology education in Davao del Norte unfolded as Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) received its newly completed Criminology Building at the Carmen Campus in a ceremonial turnover attended by key government officials, engineers, educators, and students.

Constructed by Victoria Builders and Trading under a ₱27 million contract, the one-storey structure was launched as a testament to a shared vision of delivering accessible and quality education to future criminologists. Though the facility currently lacks dedicated criminology equipment, it represents an infrastructural step toward preparing the next generation of law enforcers and justice professionals.

The event brought together local leaders, including municipal officials from the mayor down to barangay captains, Congressman Alan Dujali, representatives from the Davao del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office, and DNSC’s management, faculty, staff, and students.

Engineer Jonathan Espina, who served as project inspector, described the building as “a beacon of hope for the future of our community,” noting that it is designed to elevate the academic experience and contribute to regional development. Echoing this sentiment, DNSC’s Engr. Joenabel Ganiera emphasized that the structure is not just a building, but “a foundation for dreams and aspirations.”

Congressman Dujali, a key figure behind the project, recalled the initial skepticism surrounding the creation of new extension campuses. “It is always my vision,” he said, “that no one is left behind in access to quality education.” His message highlighted how expanding educational infrastructure could reduce poverty and improve social equity in the province.

Accepting the building on behalf of DNSC, President Joy Sorrosa recognized the support of Cong. Dujali and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to maintaining the facilities and delivering education that aligns with national goals for justice and public safety.

By providing dedicated space for criminology students, DNSC is helping prepare future law enforcement professionals equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with a strong sense of civic responsibility.
