PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) is gearing up for the Level I Accreditation of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. The programs preparing for this accreditation include the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAComm), Bachelor of Science in Disaster Resiliency and Management (BSDRM), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep), Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS), Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM).
AACCUP is a trusted body that assesses higher education institutions based on their adherence to national and international standards, promoting a culture of quality assurance. In preparation for the accreditation visit, DNSC’s Quality Assurance Office initiated a three-day Self Survey Visit from November 11 to 13, 2024. During this visit, assigned internal accreditors evaluated the programs’ preparations and documentation.
“Accreditation is a continual process and should be treated as a daily practice of excellence. It is in difficult times like this that we must assess our commitment to DNSC and our students in creating and maintaining a culture of excellence. All comments are appreciated because they are points of growth and improvement,” remarked Dr. Arnold M. Duping, Dean of the Institute of Teacher Education, during the closing program and presentation of comments and observations by the internal accreditors.
The assigned personnel responsible for each area of concern were present during the presentation of observations. They are positive that the given timeframe and inputs will allow them to improve their preparations.
Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Girley S. Gumanao, on behalf of the College, accepted the challenge, stating, “I acknowledge and accept all the recommendations and comments of the CIA. In the remaining days, we must collaboratively comply with the requirements based on the experts’ recommendations. I fully commit to supporting all the programs, alongside the deans and academic heads.”
