PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), alongside other public agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) in Region XI, presented their Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Proposals to various corresponding sectoral committees under the Davao Regional Development Council (RDC XI).

The DNSC delegation was spearheaded by College President Joy M. Sorrosa, who delivered the proposal to the Social Development Committee (SDC XI) and was supported by the Finance (FSD) and Planning and Resource Management Divisions (PRMD). The session was held on February 29, 2024, at the National Economic and Development (NEDA) Regional Office XI Conference Hall, Davao City.

The proposed budget encompasses the projected operational and personnel services expenses, advancement in education, and infrastructure initiatives. On top of the priority list for the infrastructure projects are the Phase 3 implementation of the Learning and Information Resource Center (LIRC) upgrading, expansion of the administration building, construction of a three-storey laboratory and classroom building in the DNSC – Sto. Tomas campus, DNSC-IGACOS campus, and DNSC-Carmen campus.

The 40 Priority Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) presented by DNSC aim to contribute significantly to the improvement of education and lifelong learning for students, as well as the optimization of institutional resources.

The proposal also incorporated the construction of additional dormitories for learners and employees, promoting more conducive and accessible learning and living spaces.

DNSC expressed optimism for the approval of its budget proposal with its adherence to the guidelines in Section 1.4 of NBM No. 149. This section stipulates that only implementation-ready agency proposals, specifically Tier 2 PAPs, will be included in the FY 2025 budget.

The SDC XI has positively recommended DNSC’s proposal for RDC XI endorsement.
