
PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) has officially commenced the weeklong multi-level accreditation of six of its academic programs through a virtual opening meeting held on May 19, 2025. The exercise is facilitated by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), as part of the institution’s continuous efforts to uphold quality assurance and academic excellence.
The programs under review include the Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry (BSAF) and the Master in Information Technology (MIT), which are undergoing Preliminary Survey Visits (PSV), and four graduate-level programs undergoing Level II Accreditation: Master of Arts in Basic Education (MABE), Master in Fisheries Management (MFM), Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity (MSMB), and Master in Science Teaching (MST). The inclusion of the relatively new programs BSAF and MIT for accreditation highlights DNSC’s proactive commitment to ensuring that students benefit from the highest standards of academic delivery across all offerings.
In her opening remarks, DNSC President Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa expressed her appreciation for the dedication of the local accreditation task forces and emphasized the importance of sustained excellence, noting, “Excellence is not a destination but a continuous pursuit.” She encouraged everyone involved to put action behind the College’s vision as it strives for greater institutional maturity and service delivery.
The AACCUP survey team is led by Dr. Isidro L. Duran as overall coordinator. Program accreditors include Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio for BSAF; Engr. Naomi A. Bajao for MIT; and Prof. Jorlyn L. Pelaez for MABE, together with team leader Dr. Jovelyn M. Cantina. Mr. Michael Ray L. Burlas is assigned to MSMB with Prof. Rosalinda P. Shariff as team leader, while Dr. Edgard M. Hortillosa leads the accreditation for MFM with team leader Dr. Fabio C. Ruaza, Jr. Prof. Robert Jan R. Bayan heads the MST team with Dr. Marian Argie M. Daradar as team leader, and Prof. Eufrocena B. Lucas is in charge of library services.
Dr. Duran, speaking on behalf of the survey team, explained the purpose of the accreditation process and encouraged DNSC personnel to embody integrity and diligence in their work. He quoted, “Let’s do things right even when no one else is looking,” reinforcing the shared responsibility in upholding academic quality and institutional integrity.
