PANABO CITY – The 723rd Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Unit (NROTCU) Affiliate of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) earned a “Proficient” adjectival rating during the Annual General Tactical Inspection (AGTI) conducted on May 15–16, 2026.

The unit garnered 919.67 out of 1,000 points, translating to a final rating of 91.97, following a comprehensive evaluation of cadet training, discipline, administration, and operational readiness.

The inspection was led by Commodore Redentor R. Cortezano of the Philippine Navy, AGTI Chairman and Deputy Commander of the Naval Reserve Command, alongside Captain Edwin Tello of the Philippine Navy (General Staff Corps), AGTI Vice Chair. They were joined by the inspection team and training staff from the Naval Reserve Center–Eastern Mindanao.

In her inspirational message, DNSC College President Joy M. Sorrosa underscored the role of cadets as future leaders and nation-builders, stating, “Strength, endurance, discipline, and readiness are not simply expectations placed upon you; they are the very foundations of your identity as future leaders and reserve officers.”

She also encouraged cadets to remain hopeful and purposeful amid national challenges, emphasizing that “your leadership begins today, not tomorrow,” and that ROTC training develops students holistically into “disciplined, patriotic, and respectful individuals.”

Commander of the Naval Reserve Center–Eastern Mindanao, Captain Liberty C. Gamueta of the Philippine Navy (General Staff Corps), highlighted the significance of the inspection in evaluating cadet preparedness and institutional standards.

“This activity forms an important part of our continuing efforts to assess the training, discipline, and overall readiness of our cadets and training staff,” Capt. Gamueta said.

Sorrosa likewise reaffirmed the college’s partnership with the Philippine Navy, particularly as DNSC prepares to offer the Bachelor of Science in Criminology program in the coming academic year, which is expected to further increase ROTC participation.

Commodore Cortezano commended the cadets, officers, and training staff for their professionalism and discipline throughout the inspection, “This inspection is not merely a routine requirement. It is a direct assessment of your alignment with the mission of the Reserve Force, your responsiveness to its demands, and your readiness to perform when called upon.”
