PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College, through the Institute of Computing (IC), invited industry partners, faculty members, alumni, and student interns to the IC Industry Advisory Council Meeting on May 4, 2026, at the Gender and Development Conference Room.
The meeting was primarily conducted to align students’ skills with industry needs and gather recommendations for the continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) programs.
Dean Mark Van M. Buladaco presented the rationale of the activity and formally introduced the establishment of the Industry Advisory Council for the Institute of Computing.
Dr. Buladaco said the council would serve as a strategic mechanism to ensure that the BSIT and BSIS programs remain responsive to the evolving demands of the Information Technology industry.
He also introduced SPRINT-IT or Strategic Partnerships for Research, Internships, and Next-Generation Technology in Information Technology, an initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration in research and development, internship opportunities, and industry engagement.
“As emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and cloud computing continue to reshape the global workforce, higher education institutions must move beyond traditional instruction and actively co-create value with industry partners,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, industry partners and participants signed a Covenant of Commitment signifying their support for collaboration in curriculum development, internship opportunities, faculty immersion, research initiatives, and industry engagement.
In his closing message, BSIT Program Chair Fajardo thanked the participating agencies and industry representatives for their contributions during the discussion.
“Your valuable inputs have given us a clearer perspective on current industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competencies that our graduates must possess in order to remain relevant and competitive,” he said.
