Aligned with the Poultry and Animal Production (AnSci 222) course, the training was led by Mr. Rene Gallardo, instructor, and Ms. Hazel Macalisang, BSAF program chairperson. Students gained hands-on experience in feeding and nutrition management, flock management, postharvest practices, and return on investment estimation through a small-scale poultry farm. The farm also served as a small-scale laboratory for animal and poultry production, part of the stipulations in CHED Memorandum No. 06, series of 2019 and a requirement for the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC).

Vitarich Corporation, a leader in animal nutrition and poultry and livestock production, sponsored the training. Their technical team assessed the poultry farm’s conditions and location before providing recommendations to the faculty member and students.

More than 70 students participated in the training, joined by Dr. Rosie Lynn P. Tejada, Dean of the Institute of Aquatic and Applied Sciences (IAAS), who delivered the opening remarks. The technical team was led by Mr. Pablo M. Gumanao, Visayas-Mindanao Area Manager, along with Dr. Leanza Taylor, Vitarich Veterinarian, and Mr. Jovin Llorente, Southern Mindanao Manager.

A Q&A session followed the training, where students received prizes and shirts, while faculty members were given umbrellas as souvenirs. The training was the result of a collaboration between industry and the academe, fostering a more meaningful and practical classroom experience.
