PANABO CITY – As part of Davao del Norte State College’s (DNSC) Women’s Month celebration, the Gender and Development Office (GAD) hosted a lecture on gender-based violence (GBV) on March 27, 2025, at the DNSC Audio-Visual Room (AVR).
The event featured Ms. Chareina Joy G. Lacuin, RSW, Head of the Panabo City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), who provided insights into the prevalence, forms, and impact of GBV in the community. Ms. Lacuin presented statistical data on GBV cases across barangays, highlighting the need for strengthened reporting mechanisms and policy development.
The discussion aimed to raise awareness, encourage victims and witnesses to come forward, and guide the implementation of gender-sensitive policies that prevent violence and establish response protocols. The lecture was attended by DNSC faculty members, students, and representatives from Barangay New Visayas and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
