PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) and Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 23, 2025, at the CPSC campus in Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin.

Representing their respective institutions, DNSC President Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa and CPSC President Dr. Macario B. Oclarit sealed the partnership that aims to promote faculty and student exchange programs and joint initiatives in research, instruction, and extension services. Accompanying Pres. Sorrosa were Vice President President for Administration Reir Erlinda E. Cutad and Director for Executive Affairs Melissa G. Dalumay.

The MOU outlines a framework for cooperation in various academic fields such as fisheries, marine and aquatic biology, food science and technology, information technology, education, language teaching, public administration, and tourism. The agreement emphasizes equality, reciprocity, and mutual benefit between the two institutions. Through this partnership, students and faculty from both colleges will have opportunities to access and utilize each other’s research laboratories, facilities, and equipment, as well as collaborate in organizing academic workshops and conferences.

The MOA highlights a specific collaborative initiative on Giant Clam Conservation. This project aligns with DNSC’s ongoing Taklobo Tours and Giant Clam Conservation Project in the Island Garden City of Samal. Under the agreement, DNSC will share its expertise in giant clam identification, assessment, and conservation with CPSC faculty and students in the field of fisheries and marine biology. The partnership will also support capacity building for CPSC’s extension teams and local stakeholders.

As part of the conservation efforts, CPSC will identify potential conservation areas in Camiguin, mobilize management bodies and local organizations, and engage with local government units and key stakeholders to implement the project effectively. This collaboration represents the commitment of DNSC and CPSC to academic excellence, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
