PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College’s Institute of Advanced Studies (DNSC-IAdS) hosted the Convergence 2024: IAdS Research Colloquium with a theme, “Artificial Intelligence in the Frontiers of Advanced Studies Research”. The event was held at the DNSC Gymnasium on June 29, 2024.
The colloquium featured Dr. Rec C. Eguia, a prolific researcher and professor from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), as the plenary speaker. He discussed how Artificial Intelligence can aid researchers in exploring new possibilities and making discoveries, pushing research into exciting new realms of inquiry and innovation.
After the plenary, participants moved on to the parallel sessions where they presented their research. The thematic areas included Education and Learning in Science and Mathematics, Leadership and Management in Education, Technology and Innovation in Agriculture and Public Services, and Food Safety and Water Quality in Fisheries and Aquatic Ecosystems.
In her welcome remarks, IAdS Dean Nickel Jean S. Lagare-Sastine emphasized the significance of the event, “We have the opportunity to engage in dynamic discussions, explore new research methodologies, and build valuable networks with fellow participants.”
DNSC President Joy M. Sorrosa also graced the event, highlighting the theme as the college’s response to rapid changes in research, “There is no progress if we are not responsive to change. As the plenary speaker discussed, AI is here to help us manage big data. It can help us maximize the potential of our data to create a better future.”
Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca Jr., Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production, shared three reasons why participants should continue their research: to transform lives, expand the economy, and challenge the limits of various fields of expertise and disciplines.
