PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), along with other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from the Davao region and across the nation, participated in the Commission on Higher Education’s National SUC Fair 2024 held in Zamboanga City from July 9 to 11, 2024. The Philippines’ City of Flowers and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) co-hosted the event.

DNSC’s head of delegation was College President and Philippine Association of SUCs in Region XI chair, Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa. She was joined by Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, president of Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC), Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, president of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), Dr. Roy G. Ponce, president of Davao Oriental State University (DORSU), Dr. Lynette Alcalen-Bontia, president of Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), and Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., president of the University of Southeastern Philippines, in the opening program.

The fair’s theme was, “Weaving Culture and Innovation for a Transformative, Resilient, and Globally-Recognized Philippine Higher Education”. Congress representative and chair of the House Committee on Higher Education, Hon. Marquez “Mark” Ocampo Go, graced the event as the keynote speaker.

“It is high time that we recognize the paradigm shifts in universities and colleges that they should be not only centers for academic excellence but also hubs for national development and community knowledge sharing,” appealed Rep. Mr. Ryan Jay Coñate and Ms. Queenie Marie Daquio, students from DNSC, will represent the region in the Mr. and Ms. SUC Fair 2024 competition on July 10. Additionally, DNSC visual artist Alexander Dalogdog will participate in the Pintar: Poster Painting Contest on the same date.

Other activities include the Mi Casita: Booth Exhibit, Innovation, Variation, Acceleration through Research (InnoVAR): Research Pitching Competition, Colors of Mindanao: Tiktok Competition, MAS (Musical Anthem of SUCs): Regional Music Video Competition, SEEnematics: Same-Event Edit Competition, Bailes Y Canciones: Cultural Show, and Lente: Photography Competition.
