PANABO CITY — Representatives from Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) joined international futurists and educators at the 11th Asia Pacific Futures Network (APFN) Conference in Taiwan on October 16-17, 2025. They also visited the host, Tamkang University, and discussed several opportunities for future collaboration.
With the theme, AI and Green Futures: Can AI Create Ethical and Sustainable Futures?, the conference explored the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping a sustainable and ethical global future. The event gathered thought leaders, researchers, and innovators from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss how foresight and futures thinking can be used to address complex global challenges.
DNSC was represented by Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, College President; Dr. Eliseo F. Huesca Jr., Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production; and Mr. Mer Jun Q. Cañas, Head of the Internationalization Initiatives and External Affairs Office. The conference, held at the Hsu Shou-chlien International Conference Center, served as a venue for exchanging insights and strengthening collaborations on digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and the ethical integration of AI in higher education.
The DNSC delegation participated with clear objectives: to learn how to integrate Futures Thinking and Foresight into the College’s programs and strategic initiatives; to collaborate and benchmark best practices with futurists from various regions; and to engage in institutional visits and discussions with Tamkang University for possible research and academic partnerships.
