PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) passed its first surveillance audit for ISO 9001:2015 + Amd 1:2024 on September 24–25, 2025, with no nonconformities recorded. The audit was conducted by Ms. Khen O. David of W3 Solutionz FZE.

The two-day evaluation covered document reviews, a campus tour, laboratory inspections, random interviews, class observations, and continued assessments. In the closing meeting at the Gender and Development Conference Room, the auditor commended DNSC for eight notable practices: closure of previous audit findings, management’s commitment to quality education despite budget constraints, infrastructure improvements such as the hatchery and multimedia resource center, efficient online approval systems, organized records-filing, campus cleanliness, timely internal audit reporting, faculty efforts in student retention, and recognition through national and regional awards.

Ms. David also identified nine opportunities for improvement. These include clearer reporting of quality objectives, better documentation of regulatory compliance, refinement of audit criteria, integration of climate change issues in the stakeholder matrix, explicit documentation of QMS scope exclusions, improved stockroom organization, stronger control of external documents, consistent monitoring of facilities, and securing permits to operate elevators and generators.

Despite these areas for enhancement, the audit concluded that DNSC’s Quality Management System is effective, well-maintained, and compliant with ISO 9001:2015/amd1:2024 requirements. “I appreciate all the auditees for the improvement of your records, your areas, and your openness to accept opportunities for improvement,” said Ms. David.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Reir Erlinda E. Cutad thanked the DNSC community for their resilience and dedication, “Your efforts in ensuring that processes and regulatory requirements are embedded in our daily operations, even with many deliverables, are truly inspiring. Your contributions are integral to the success of the College.”

With this result, DNSC is recommended for continued ISO 9001:2015 + Amd 1:2024 Certification.
