PANABO CITY – Faculty and staff of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) convened at the DNSC Audio-Visual Room on March 12, 2025, for the Seminar on the Foundations of Intellectual Property (IP), part of Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Week 2025.

Vice President for Research, Extension, and Production (VPREP) Eliseo F. Huesca, Jr., PhD, opened the seminar with an inspiring message, “It is imperative for us to make this journey both exciting and deeply meaningful. Let us always remember that we are in a privileged position to empower our community.”

Engr. Filman T. Simpao, the seminar’s guest speaker, provided discussions on various aspects of intellectual property, covering IP rights, utility models, industrial designs, copyrights, trademarks, and the IP application process. He highlighted the importance of intellectual property in everyday life, sharing, “Everyone creates IP on a daily basis.”

The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session, where participants shared insights and raised further inquiries on IP protection. The Research, Extension, and Production (REP) Unit reaffirmed DNSC’s commitment to safeguarding the intellectual property rights of its faculty and staff, emphasizing plans to conduct more seminars to strengthen awareness and understanding of IP rights.
