PANABO CITY — Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) hosted a two-day GADTimpala validation on April 15–16, 2026, assessing its gender and development (GAD) policies and the integration of gender-responsive initiatives across instruction, research, and extension.
Conducted in a hybrid setup at the GAD Conference Room and via Google Meet, the activity gathered members of the College Management Team, the GAD Focal Point System, selected personnel, and partner stakeholders.
Validators reviewed submitted Means of Verification (MOVs), facilitated focus group discussions, and conducted site visits to key offices, including the GAD, Human Resource Management, Research, Development and Extension (RDE), Internationalization, and Guidance offices.
The onsite validation team from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) included Caryl Joyce Gatapia, Hannah Jean Jimala, and Gabrielle Dane Marigondon. Online evaluators included Angelica Q. Dolores of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region I and other PCW validators.
In her opening message, DNSC President Joy M. Sorrosa welcomed the evaluators and expressed gratitude for the College’s inclusion among shortlisted institutions for the GADTimpala Award.
“Over the years, DNSC has actively implemented gender-responsive initiatives across instruction, research, and extension, reflecting our commitment to integrating GAD principles into our programs and services,” Pres. Sorrosa said.
She added that the validation provides an opportunity to strengthen initiatives toward greater inclusivity, equity, and social justice. She also cited DNSC’s recognition as one of the top-performing state universities and colleges in GAD fund utilization last year as a testament to its commitment to meaningful implementation.
In her closing remarks, Director for Presidential Affairs Melissa G. Dalumay expressed optimism that the College met the evaluators’ standards and reaffirmed DNSC’s commitment to continuous improvement.
“While we aspire for recognition, our primary goal is to fully comply with all requirements and further strengthen our efforts,” Dr. Dalumay stated.
The validation results will determine whether DNSC will receive the GADTimpala recognition, with awarding set in August 2027.
