PANABO CITY – Beneficiaries of the Cash-for-Work Program for college students and graduates in Davao del Norte State College attended the CFW Culminating Activity cum Payout on November 19, 2024, at the College Gymnasium.
Representing College President Joy M. Sorrosa, Vice President for Administration and Finance Reir Erlinda E. Cutad highlighted the program’s impact in her opening remarks, “This initiative has been instrumental in addressing the challenges faced by our students and graduates, especially during times of financial hardship and a highly competitive job market. Through the program, beneficiaries not only earned much-needed income but also gained valuable work experience to support their families.”
The Cash-for-Work Program was implemented at DNSC through its partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDDS) initiative.
DSWD Field Office XI Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, represented by Social Welfare Officer II Ricky F. Tijon, RSW, acknowledged the program’s contribution in a message shared during the event, “The CFW program has been a lifeline for many students and graduates facing economic challenges. As we conclude this initiative, we celebrate the resilience and dedication of all beneficiaries and contributors.”
Adding to the event’s significance, representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI conducted a brief talk on “Building Sustainable Livelihood: Practical Skills for Financial Independence” to equip beneficiaries with knowledge for long-term economic empowerment. The activity was organized and facilitated by the Office of the Student Development and Services (OSDS), through the Job Placement Office (JPO).
