PANABO CITY – The Institute of Aquatic and Applied Sciences (IAAS) of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) celebrated the achievements of its 2023 and 2024 passers of the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals (LEFP) during a recognition ceremony held on December 20, 2024, at the DNSC Audio-Visual Room (AVR).
The highlight of the program was the awarding of ₱100,000 to Jericho B. Maglinte, a cum laude graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (BSFAS) and Top 5 in the 2024 LEFP. In his speech, Maglinte emphasized the significance of their field, stating, “We are not students of ‘just a fisheries program.’ We are fisheries professionals. Our roles in society are as vital as those in other fields. We contribute to nation-building, particularly in fisheries and food security.”
The College achieved an 84.62% overall passing rate in the most recent exam, with seven out of nine first-time examinees and all four repeat examinees passing.
The ceremony was led by BSFAS Program Chairperson Lord Martino S. Mondigo and IAAS Dean Dr. Rosie Lynn P. Tejada, who commended the passers for their dedication and commitment to excellence in their profession.
DNSC continues to take pride in the achievements of its students and alumni, reaffirming its commitment to producing competent fisheries professionals who play a pivotal role in addressing global challenges in food security and sustainable aquatic resource management.
