PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), through its Sociocultural Affairs Unit, joined the national celebration of Arts Month 2025 by hosting a multidisciplinary workshop and recital from February 28 to March 1, 2025.

“DNSC plays a vital role in nurturing young artists by providing platforms for artistic expression. Our mission is to empower students as they explore their talents and deepen their cultural awareness and knowledge,” said Sociocultural Affairs Coordinator Ian S. Somosot.

The nationwide theme for this year’s celebration, “Ani ng Sining: Diwa at Damdamin”, highlights the abundant creativity of the Filipino nation. DNSC invited esteemed resource speakers to enrich discussions on various artistic disciplines.

Mr. Bryan B. Ellorimo led the traditional dance and music session, while Ms. Mari-Lei C. Casilac shared insights on theater arts. Mr. Jerry Ben V. Sasam inspired young artists in visual arts and traditional painting, while Mel Zaimen P. Vallescas, a former DNSC visual artist, encouraged students to continuously practice digital painting. Following the lectures, students applied their learnings by preparing performances for the recital.

Dance enthusiast and attendee Jaybee Grace Alegro emphasized the importance of preserving culture through the arts, “Dance benefits not only individuals or artists but also our culture. It is important to participate in events like this, especially since younger generations are becoming less connected to traditional practices.”
